Thin Elastic with Slim Cord End is a ready-to-use lace solution that pairs a stretchy elastic cord with a slim, refined cord end. The cord end lets the cord pass easily through casings and cord locks while keeping the tip from fraying; the elastic body stretches when pulled and recovers when released. At Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları, we manufacture this product in custom brand colors and lengths for stretch drawcord applications such as hoods, hem drawstrings, bags and elastic shoelaces.
Request a quoteSlim, refined tip
The slim cord end delivers a finish in proportion to the cord diameter. Unlike bulky, chunky tips, it stays discreet on the garment and creates a clean detail on lightweight fabrics and minimal designs.
Stretch drawcord
The elastic body lengthens when pulled and returns to its original length when released. The gathering therefore adjusts itself as the wearer moves, reducing the loosening and sagging seen with non-stretch drawcords.
Easy threading
The cord end lets the drawcord pass through narrow casings, eyelets and cord lock holes without snagging. Threading speeds up on the sewing line, and waste caused by frayed tips is reduced.
Color-coordinated set
Cord and cord end colors are planned together. By choosing a tone-on-tone look or a contrast tip detail, you can align the drawcord with your collection’s color language.
With a thin drawcord, quality is measured not by how the tip holds on the first threading, but by whether it is still in place on the hundredth pull.
Stretchy Body, Slim Tip, Clean Finish
Thin elastic cord is a round drawcord made by wrapping an elastic core in a braided sheath. The sheath gives the cord its outer appearance and abrasion resistance, while the core provides the stretch. When the end of this construction is cut, however, the sheath tends to unravel and the elastic core tends to protrude; this is exactly where the slim cord end comes in. The cord end wraps around and secures the cut tip, gives the cord a neat finish and guides it like a needle as it is threaded through a casing. Thin Elastic with Slim Cord End brings these two components together in proportionate sizes to deliver a drawcord that is both functional and attractive.
A stretch drawcord makes a difference wherever a non-stretch cord falls short. When used with a cord lock on windbreaker and raincoat hems, the gathering stretches as the wearer moves and stays in place without becoming uncomfortable. Along the edge of a hood, it sits softly around the face without a harsh pulling sensation. On sneakers, elastic laces make it possible to slip shoes on and off without tying them. At the openings of bags, in pouch-style packaging and on promotional products, the stretch cord reduces the strain placed on seams during opening and closing. Because the cord is thin, all of these applications achieve a lightweight, unobtrusive look.
At Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları, the most delicate step in producing elastic cord with cord ends is seating the cord end correctly on the cord. Elastic cord becomes thinner when stretched; for this reason, the cord end diameter is selected based on the cord’s relaxed diameter, and the cord end is attached without tensioning the cord. Our sample department tests this balance separately for every color and diameter combination and checks that the cord end does not slip under pulling. Thanks to our in-house production and design team, the cord color, cord end type and finished length are tailored to your brand. With more than a decade of experience, our goal is to repeat the same clean finish on every single drawcord in bulk production.

Where is it used?
Key applications for Thin Elastic Cord with Slim Cord End.
Hood drawcord
On sweatshirt and lightweight jacket hoods, the stretch drawcord gently frames the face and holds the hood in place without creating harsh tension when pulled.
Windbreaker hem drawcord
Used with a cord lock in the hem and waist casings of windbreakers, raincoats and outdoor jackets, it stretches with movement, reduces wind entry and helps the garment keep its shape.
Elastic shoelaces
Used as no-tie elastic laces on sports and casual shoes; the slim cord end lets the lace pass easily through eyelets and keeps the tip from fraying.
Bag and pouch openings
Creates a stretch closure at the openings of backpacks, gym bags and fabric pouches; it reduces strain on the seams during opening and closing, and the opening gathers neatly.
Tags and packaging
On cardboard hang tags, gift boxes and catalog packaging, thin elastic cord with slim cord ends offers an easy-to-attach tie detail that looks carefully finished.
Hats and accessories
On hat chin straps, beanies and hair accessories, thin elastic cord provides a light hold, while the tipped end gives the product a professional, carefully finished look.
Cord and Cord End Combinations
We build elastic cord with cord ends around three variables: the cord’s diameter and color, the cord end’s material and shade, and the finished length. The options below are combined according to how your product will be used and finalized at the sampling stage.
About custom manufacturing- 01
Plastic slim cord end
Stands out for its light weight and wide range of colors. It can be applied in the same shade as the cord or in a contrast color, making it an economical, practical tip solution for sportswear, kids’ products and colorful collections.
- 02
Metal slim cord end
Suited to collections seeking a more defined, refined look. It can be selected in different metallic finishes on request and creates a quality detail on products such as outdoor jackets and premium bags.
- 03
Cord diameter selection
The cord diameter is determined by the size of the casing it will pass through and the cord lock hole. A thinner cord gives an elegant, lightweight look, while a slightly thicker cord delivers stronger recovery.
- 04
Color scheme
Cord and cord end colors can be selected separately. A tone-on-tone combination offers an understated look, while a contrast cord end highlights your brand colors as a small but eye-catching detail.
- 05
Finished length and cutting
Drawcords are prepared at their finished length with cord ends attached, based on the casing length of the product and the desired drop. This eliminates the need for extra cutting and tipping on the sewing line.
Elastic Cord with Cord Ends vs. the Alternatives
When choosing a drawcord, the need for stretch and the tip finish are the deciding factors. The table below compares Thin Elastic with Slim Cord End with non-stretch cord and untipped elastic cord across key usage criteria.
| Criterion | Thin Elastic with Slim Cord End | Non-stretch polyester drawcord | Untipped elastic cord |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stretch | Yes, recovers | None | Yes, recovers |
| Tip finish | Slim cord end, neat | Cord end or macaron cord end | Cut tip, may fray |
| Threading through casings | Easy | Easy | Difficult, tip may unravel |
| Feel in use | Soft, self-adjusting | Fixed, manual adjustment | Stretchy but unfinished look |
| Appearance | Slim and refined | More prominent | Semi-finished look |
| Typical use | Hems, hoods, elastic laces | Hoods, sweatpants waistbands | Concealed casings, interior applications |
From request to delivery, step by step
We stay in touch with you at every stage and never move on to the next step without your approval.
- 1
Application and measurements
Together, we define the product the drawcord will be used on, the casing width, the cord lock or eyelet size and the desired finished length; the cord diameter and cord end size are selected based on this data.
- 2
Color and cord end selection
Cord color, cord end material and cord end shade are planned according to your collection palette. Our design team suggests sample combinations for tone-on-tone or contrast options.
- 3
Sample and pull test
Our sample department attaches the cord ends to the cord; we check that the cord end does not slip under pulling and test the cord’s stretch and recovery performance, then submit the sample for your approval.
- 4
Bulk cutting and tipping
Following the approved sample, cords are cut to finished length and cord ends are applied to the tips. Length, cord end fit and color coordination are checked at set intervals throughout production.
- 5
Packing and shipping
The finished drawcords are bundled so they do not tangle, then packed and labeled on request. The shipping date is planned per project to fit the schedule of your sewing line.
Quality Control Tips for Elastic Cord with Cord Ends
- Attach the cord end while the cord is relaxed; a cord end secured under tension may loosen once the cord is released.
- Select random samples from each delivered batch and pull the cord ends by hand to check how firmly they are seated.
- Test the cord diameter together with the cord lock hole; a hole that is too narrow accelerates cord wear.
- In childrenswear, observe EN 14682 requirements for drawcords in the head and neck area.
- Store drawcords bundled and flat; elastic cord left coiled for a long time may lose its shape.
- If the product will be washed, test the color and fit of the cord end and cord after washing on a sample.
Thin Elastic Cord with Slim Cord End: your questions answered
Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Our team is happy to help.
What is the difference between thin elastic cord and regular drawcord?
Regular polyester drawcord does not stretch; it gathers as far as it is pulled and stays in that position. Thin elastic cord has elastic yarn in its core, so it lengthens when pulled and returns to its original length when released. This makes it ideal for gathers that adjust themselves as the wearer moves. In applications such as windbreaker hems, hoods and elastic shoelaces, elastic cord offers more comfortable use.
Why choose a slim cord end?
A cord end prevents the cut tip of the cord from fraying and lets the cord pass easily through a casing, cord lock or eyelet. A slim cord end performs this function with an unobtrusive finish in proportion to the cord diameter. On thin cords in particular, a thick tip looks bulky and makes it harder to pass through narrow holes; a slim cord end eliminates this problem and delivers a clean look.
How should I choose the cord diameter?
Cord diameter should be determined by the size of the casing, eyelet and cord lock hole the drawcord will pass through. Thin elastic cords are typically used in diameters between 1.5 and 3 mm. A thinner diameter gives an elegant, lightweight look, while a slightly thicker diameter provides strong recovery. If you share the dimensions of your cord locks or other trims, we will finalize the right diameter together on a sample.
Should the cord end be plastic or metal?
The choice depends on the product’s positioning and design language. A plastic slim cord end is lightweight, offers a wide range of colors and is an economical solution for sportswear and colorful collections. A metal slim cord end creates a more refined, defined detail and stands out in outdoor jackets, premium bags and accessory collections. In either case, we recommend making the decision based on a sample.
Can elastic cord with cord ends be produced in custom brand colors?
Yes. You can specify the cord and cord end colors separately. If you share your fabric swatch or color reference, the cord color is matched accordingly, and tone-on-tone or contrast options are suggested for the cord end. Our design team prepares the combinations as samples; once you approve them, bulk production follows the same reference and color consistency is monitored across batches.
Can thin elastic cord be used in childrenswear?
That depends on where the drawcord is placed and the age group of the child. Drawcords in childrenswear are subject to specific safety rules; restrictions apply particularly to drawcords in the head and neck area for younger age groups. You need to take the requirements of the EN 14682 standard into account at the design stage. When you tell us the age group and the position of the drawcord, we will plan the appropriate length and tip finish together with you.
How do I place a wholesale order for Thin Elastic with Slim Cord End?
You can get started by sharing the product the drawcord will be used on, the finished length you need, the colors and the cord lock size, if any. Based on this information, a sample is prepared and submitted for your approval after a pull check. Order quantity and delivery schedule are planned per project. From our workshop in Bağcılar, we ship elastic cord with cord ends to brands in Türkiye as well as to customers abroad.
