The drawcord is the first detail people touch on a hoodie or a pair of sweatpants, and it often shapes their first impression of the product’s quality. At our facility in Bağcılar, Istanbul, backed by the Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları name, we produce polyester and 100% cotton drawcords in 16-, 32- and 48-spindle braid options. We combine filled, flat, tight-braided and tress constructions with metal, brass, gold, silver, printed and macaron cord ends to create combinations tailored to your brand.
Request a quoteThree braid options
With 16-, 32- and 48-spindle braid options, you can source the right drawcord for your product’s proportions, from fine laces to thick, eye-catching waist cords, from a single supplier and in a single sampling process.
Custom brand colors
We match the drawcord color to your fabric, your print or your corporate color code. In addition to colored and black options, you can create contrasting designs with two-tone cord end combinations.
Your logo on the cord end
We carry your logo all the way to the tip of the drawcord by applying laser engraving to brass and metal cord ends and pattern printing to iron cord ends. This small detail ensures your product reminds the wearer of your brand every time it is used.
Import and export
From our production site in Bağcılar, Istanbul, we supply drawcords to brands in Turkey and buyers abroad. Our experience in both import and export helps us develop solutions that meet the expectations of different markets.
The right drawcord turns the most-touched detail of your product into a quiet but powerful brand signature.
Anatomy of the drawcord that completes your product
Four elements determine the quality of a drawcord: the braid count, the yarn type, the body construction and the end finish. The braid count refers to the number of spindles on the machine the cord is braided on; as a general rule, a 16-spindle braid gives a finer, lighter cord, a 32-spindle braid a balanced and versatile one, and a 48-spindle braid a denser, more eye-catching surface. On the yarn side, polyester stands out for its vivid color and strength, while 100% cotton is valued for its natural hand feel. The body construction shows how the cord sits in the hand, and the end shows how carefully the product has been finished. We plan these four elements together according to the intended use of your product.
With more than ten years of experience, Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları runs drawcord manufacturing on its own production line. Our design team reviews the color palette and pattern details of your collection and recommends a suitable combination of braid and cord end; our sample department turns that recommendation into a tangible sample. This lets you see, before mass production begins, how the drawcord feeds through the hood channel, how it sits in the waistband and how the cord end works with the fabric. As a supplier engaged in both import and export, we respond with the same attention to detail to the different expectations of domestic and international brands, and we produce every order true to the approved sample.
The detail that turns a drawcord from an ordinary accessory into a brand signature is very often its end. Metal and iron cord ends provide a reliable finish in mass production; brass, gold and silver tones add weight to premium collections; macaron and needle macaron ends offer a colorful, lightweight solution for sportswear. We can carry your logo on the cord end through laser engraving or printing, and apply jacquard lettering and patterns to the surface of flat drawcords. Through a waxing process, we also prepare smooth-surfaced cords suitable for shoes, bags and packaging. We decide on the right combination together with you, based on the application, budget and brand language.
Drawcord types by construction
Choosing a drawcord starts with where and how the product will be used. The constructions below form the backbone of our range; you can combine each of them with material, color, size and cord end options tailored to your brand, and finalize the diameter according to the channel width.
- 01
Filled round drawcord
A filler yarn running through the braided body gives the cord a full, round cross-section that holds its shape. It is the most popular construction for hoodie, sweatpant and jacket drawcords, and a 32-spindle braid gives it a balanced look.
- 02
Flat drawcord
Produced on a 48-spindle braid, the flat drawcord offers a wide, smooth surface. In waistbands it lies flat without twisting, makes contact with the fabric over a wide area and provides an ideal base for jacquard lettering or patterns.
- 03
Tight-braided drawcord
A braid structure in which the yarns interlace more tightly produces a cord with a firm, smooth surface. Because it resists abrasion, it keeps its clean look for a long time in frequently used laces and in dark shades such as black.
- 04
Tress drawcord
A tress braid is a construction in which yarn bundles interlace to form a distinct pattern. It gives the surface a subtle textured feel, and when combined with a filled body and a metal end, it adds a distinctive detail to sporty products.
- 05
Thick cotton drawcord
Thick drawcords braided from 100% cotton yarn have a natural, soft hand feel. They take dye well and give a matte, warm look, which makes them stand out in collections focused on natural fibers and sustainability.
- 06
Waxed drawcord
The waxing process coats the cord surface with a thin layer of wax. The result is a smooth, slightly glossy, water-repellent surface; preferred for shoelaces, bag handles and packaging ties, this construction also reduces fuzzing.

Where is it used?
Key applications for Drawcords.
Hood drawcords
In sweatshirt and cardigan hoods, filled round drawcords slide easily through the channel, keep their shape when knotted and, together with the cord end, give the product a finished look.
Sweatpant waist drawcords
In sweatpant and shorts waistbands, flat or filled drawcords support the elastic waistband and provide an adjustable fit; the flat construction lies smoothly around the waist without twisting.
Coats and outerwear
For hem and hood adjustments on coats, raincoats and windbreakers, tight-braided drawcords resist abrasion and, paired with a cord stopper and cord end, form a functional system.
Shoelaces
Used as shoelaces, waxed and tight-braided cords offer a smooth surface, reduce fuzzing and pass easily through eyelets thanks to plastic or metal aglets.
Bags and accessories
Used as drawstrings on tote bags, backpacks and pouches, these models raise the overall perceived quality of the accessory when finished with a brass or gold cord end.
Packaging and hang tags
On gift boxes, product hang tags and corporate packaging, colored waxed cords create an elegant tying detail; produced in your brand color, they bring harmony to the packaging.
Cord end and tip finishing options
The end of a drawcord determines both its durability and its appearance. Depending on the tone of your fabric, your product’s price segment and how often it will be used, we can evaluate one or more of the cord end options below with you across the collection, and if needed, prepare more than one cord end sample for the same product.
About custom manufacturing- 01
Metal and iron cord ends
Metal and iron cord ends crimped onto the drawcord provide a reliable, sturdy finish in mass production. They are one of the most practical options for collections looking for a balance between cost and durability.
- 02
Brass, gold and silver cord ends
Brass-bodied cord ends and gold or silver plated tones create a sense of weight and shine on premium products. We can permanently engrave your logo onto the surface of the cord end with a laser.
- 03
Macaron and needle macaron
A macaron end that heat-shrinks around the tip of the cord forms a light, flexible finish. Colored macaron and needle macaron options add a lively detail to sportswear and youth collections.
- 04
Plastic and two-tone cord ends
Plastic cord ends stand out for their light weight and wide range of color options. With two-tone cord end designs, you can create contrast between the cord and its end and bring your brand colors together in a single detail.
- 05
Printed iron cord ends
Pattern prints applied to the surface of iron cord ends bring the tip of the drawcord in line with the graphic language of the collection. For logos, patterns or color gradients, we decide on the right printing method together with our design team.
Compare drawcord constructions
If you are considering more than one drawcord construction for the same product, the table below offers a quick preliminary assessment. We recommend making the final choice on a sample, together with your own fabric and pattern.

From request to delivery, step by step
We stay in touch with you at every stage and never move on to the next step without your approval.
- 1
Request and needs analysis
You share your product type, fabric, target colors and logo expectations. Our team assesses the size of the channel the drawcord will pass through and how often it will be used, then prepares a recommendation for the right braid, material and cord end.
- 2
Sample preparation
Our sample department produces the recommended drawcord construction, color and cord end as a sample. At this stage, details such as diameter, length and cord end length are shaped according to your request and submitted for your approval.
- 3
Color and size approval
You try the sample with your own fabric and pattern to check color harmony, how the drawcord slides through the channel and how the cord end looks. Any necessary revisions are incorporated into the final approved sample, which is kept as the reference for mass production.
- 4
Braiding and end finishing
Using the approved sample as the reference, the drawcords are produced on braiding machines, cut to the required length, and end treatments such as cord ends, macaron ends or laser engraving are applied with care. Every end is set to match the dimensions of the sample.
- 5
Inspection and shipping
Once production is complete, color, length and end strength are checked. The drawcords are counted and packed according to your requirements, and domestic or international shipping is planned to suit the needs of the project.
Quality control tips for choosing a drawcord
- Test the drawcord diameter on a sample against the inner width of the hood or waist channel.
- Test the cord end by pulling it from the cord; a properly crimped end should not shift easily.
- Approve colors in daylight and next to your own fabric to avoid shade differences.
- To see how it looks after washing, wash and dry the sample once together with your product.
- On drawcords with metal cord ends, take care not to place the iron directly on the cord end.
- In mass production, take random samples from each batch and compare length and end dimensions with the approved sample.
Drawcords: your questions answered
Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Our team is happy to help.
What do 16-, 32- and 48-spindle drawcords mean?
These numbers refer to the number of spindles on the machine the cord is braided on. As the spindle count increases, the braid generally becomes denser and the surface fuller. A 16-spindle braid suits fine, light laces, a 32-spindle braid suits general uses such as hoods and sweatpants, and a 48-spindle braid suits flat or thick, eye-catching drawcords. We can make the right choice together based on the proportions of your product.
Which drawcord should be used for a hoodie?
The most common choice for hoods is a 32-spindle filled round polyester drawcord. The filler yarn gives the cord a full cross-section, lets it slide easily through the channel and helps it keep its shape when knotted. If you want a more natural look, a cotton drawcord is worth considering, and for a more premium feel, models with brass cord ends. The drawcord diameter is finalized on a sample according to the channel width.
Can you produce drawcords in my brand’s color?
Yes. We match the drawcord color to your fabric, your print colors or your corporate color code. You can send your color reference as a fabric swatch, a color card or a code. Our sample department prepares the first sample, and mass production begins after your approval. You can also plan the cord end color to coordinate or contrast with the drawcord.
Can a logo be printed on the drawcord end?
We can laser-engrave a logo, brand name or short phrase onto brass and metal cord ends. Because laser engraving marks the surface itself, it gives a more permanent result than printing. For iron cord ends, pattern printing options are available. Sharing your logo as a vector file makes it easier for us to prepare a layout that fits the size of the cord end.
How are quantities and lead times determined for wholesale drawcord orders?
Order quantity and delivery schedule vary depending on the drawcord construction, the number of colors, the cord end type and any personalization required. For this reason, rather than giving a fixed quantity or timeframe, we assess each project individually. Once you share your product details, we finalize the production and shipping plan with you step by step alongside sample approval, and keep you informed at every stage of the process.
Should I choose polyester or cotton drawcords?
Polyester drawcords stand out in sportswear, sweatpants and outerwear thanks to their vivid colors, smooth surface and strength. 100% cotton drawcords, with their natural hand feel, matte look and dyeability, suit collections focused on natural fibers. The fiber content of your fabric and the message of the collection are decisive in the choice; you can compare both options side by side on a sample.
Do you supply drawcords to brands outside Turkey?
Yes. As a company that handles both import and export, we deliver our drawcords to manufacturers in Turkey as well as to brands in other countries. On international projects, we finalize color, size and cord end details through samples and plan packaging and shipping according to the requirements of the project. You can send us your requests via the contact form and carry out the sample approval process remotely.
