By sourcing different constructions, from braided elastic to jacquard logo waistbands and from knitted underwear elastics to elastic cords with slim cord ends, from the same supplier, you significantly simplify your purchasing and quality tracking processes.
Guidance on Choosing Width
We work out together which width of elastic each area needs by looking at your fabric, pattern and intensity of use. This reduces unnecessary sample rounds and gets you to the right result by a shorter, more predictable route.
Custom Colors and Logos
With color matching to your fabric, jacquard woven logos, repeating brand lettering and striped patterns, elastic stops being a hidden part of your garment and becomes a strong, lasting carrier of your brand identity.
Domestic and International Brands
Combining our own production with import and export experience, we offer project-specific elastic solutions to brands both in Türkiye and abroad, tailored to the quality and design expectations of different markets.
Choosing the elastic matters as much as the pattern, because it determines how the garment, not the fabric, behaves on the body, how comfortable it is and whether it keeps its shape over time.
The Right Elastic Is the Hidden Backbone of a Garment
In most garments, elastic is an accessory that stays hidden beneath the fabric and that customers only notice when something goes wrong. If a waistband loosens after a few washes, if a leg elastic digs into the ankle and leaves a mark, or if the band in a jogger waist keeps folding over inside its casing, the wearer attributes it directly to the quality of the product. Yet the source of the problem is very often an elastic chosen with the wrong construction or the wrong width. That is why elastic selection deserves to be handled at the same table and with the same seriousness as pattern and fabric decisions. A well-chosen elastic stays invisible; the wearer simply feels that the garment fits comfortably and keeps its shape for a long time.
You can think of elastics in three main groups based on their construction. Braided elastic is thin and smooth, narrows when stretched and moves freely inside a casing. In woven elastic, the yarns interlock, so the band is firm, full-bodied and stable across its width. Knitted elastic, thanks to its loop structure, is soft, light and skin-friendly. Jacquard and boxer waistband elastics are specialized solutions built on these basic constructions that put pattern and brand identity in the spotlight. Thin elastic cords with a round cross-section, on the other hand, are flexible cords that work like a drawstring instead of a band and are finished with cord ends. Each one answers a different need.
With more than a decade of experience, Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları combines its own production with import and export expertise. For logo and patterned elastics, our design team adapts your brand’s visual language to the scale of the weave, while our sample department lets you test the elastic on your own product before bulk production. All you need to do is tell us about your product type, your fabric and your expectations. Together we determine which elastic type will work, at what width and with what level of stretch, and we design the color and logo details specifically for your brand. This way, elastic stops being just a cost item and becomes a deliberate, measurable choice that raises the quality of your product.
Elastic Types and What Each One Is Best For
The types below cover the elastic constructions most often needed in apparel and accessory collections. Each has an application where it excels; the right match directly affects both comfort and production efficiency.
- 01
Braided Elastic
An economical elastic with a braided construction and a thin, smooth surface. Because it narrows when stretched, it is used by threading it through a casing. Depending on the width chosen, it offers a practical solution for leg openings, cuffs, sleeve ends and light waist applications.
- 02
Woven Elastic
A sturdy band that, thanks to its interlocked yarn structure, keeps its width when stretched, does not curl and delivers high recovery. It is preferred for jogger waists, sports shorts and heavy-fabric products where shape retention is a priority.
- 03
Knitted Elastic
Its loop structure gives it a soft, light and flexible hand. It is a suitable option for brands that want to put comfort first in underwear that comes into direct contact with the skin, baby and kids’ products, and garments made from fine fabrics.
- 04
Jacquard Elastic
An elastic in which patterns, stripes and logos are created with yarn during weaving. It serves as an identity carrier in jogger, sportswear and underwear collections that want to display the brand name permanently on exposed waistbands.
- 05
Boxer Waistband Elastic
An elastic developed for underwear waistbands that can carry a brand name or logo. Made with a soft or brushed inner face on request, it targets both comfort against the skin and brand visibility on the shelf and in packaging.
- 06
Thin Elastic Cord
A flexible cord with a round cross-section and a small diameter. With its ends finished in slim cord ends, it provides a flexible and practical connection in hood, bag, shoe and accessory drawstrings, in knot-free adjustable closures and in light strap applications.

Where is it used?
Key applications for Elastic Bands.
Tracksuits and Joggers
Combining woven or jacquard elastic at the waistband with braided elastic at the leg openings gives jogger pants both shape retention and brand visibility in a single product.
Underwear Collections
In boxers, briefs, panties and tank tops, knitted and boxer waistband elastics form the core component of underwear, with their skin-friendly soft hand and logo waistband options.
Sports and Outdoor Apparel
In shorts, leggings and training gear, elastics that do not slip during movement and keep their recovery despite sweat and frequent washing directly shape the perception of performance.
Baby and Kidswear
Soft knitted elastics for sensitive skin, colorful waistbands on kids’ joggers and easy-on elasticated leg openings are the most requested solutions in this segment.
Leg Openings, Cuffs, Sleeve Ends
Narrow elastics that gather the wrist and sleeve ends of sweatshirts, coats and trousers control the fabric’s gathers and give a more closed finish against wind and cold.
Bag and Accessory Drawstrings
Elastic cords with slim cord ends are used as flexible and practical closure details on bag openings, shoelaces, hood adjusters and promotional products.
Choosing Elastic Width by Application
Width is the first and most fundamental decision, determining both the comfort of the elastic and how it looks on the garment. The recommendations below reflect ranges widely accepted in the industry; the final size is confirmed with a sample on your fabric and pattern.
About custom manufacturing- 01
Leg openings, cuffs and sleeve ends
Narrow elastics of 1–2 cm are commonly used in these areas. A braided elastic or thin woven elastic that gathers without squeezing the wrist and works freely inside the casing is usually sufficient.
- 02
Jogger and trouser waists
For heavy-fabric waists, wide bands of 3–5 cm are commonly preferred. A wide woven elastic spreads the load over a larger area, reducing curling and digging into the waist.
- 03
Underwear waistbands
Bands of 2.5–5 cm are commonly used for boxer and brief waistbands. A wider band makes room for a logo, while a narrower band gives an elegant look on light, minimal styles.
- 04
Light and fine products
Narrow, soft knitted elastics are recommended for babywear, sleepwear and fine-fabric products. The aim here is not a strong grip, but stretch that does not strain the fabric and goes unnoticed on the skin.
- 05
Drawstring and closure applications
A thin round elastic cord is used instead of a band. The cord diameter and cord end type are determined together according to the size of the eyelet or casing it will pass through and the visual style of the product.
Compare Elastic Groups by Their Function
Grouping elastic types by the job they do rather than by technical construction makes choosing easier. The table briefly summarizes the key features and typical uses of the three main groups.
| Criterion | Jacquard and Boxer Waistband Elastic | Woven and Knitted Elastic | Braided Elastic and Elastic Cord |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main function | Gathering and brand display | Shape retention and comfort | Gathering, adjusting, tying |
| Brand visibility | High, with logos and patterns | Limited to color matching | Usually hidden |
| Typical position | Exposed waistband | Waist casing, underwear, sportswear | Leg openings, cuffs, drawstrings |
| Customization | Logo, pattern, color | Color, width, stretch | Color, width, cord end |
| Hand | Patterned face, soft inside | Firm or soft | Thin and smooth |
| Reason to choose | Brand identity | Long-lasting fit | Practicality and economy |
From request to delivery, step by step
We stay in touch with you at every stage and never move on to the next step without your approval.
- 1
Defining Your Needs
You share the products in your collection, the areas where elastic will be used and your fabric types. If you are planning a logo or patterned application, sending your brand files at this stage speeds up the process.
- 2
Type and Width Recommendation
For each application point, we recommend a suitable elastic construction, width and elastic component. If the same collection requires more than one elastic type, we plan them together under a single technical list.
- 3
Color and Pattern Development
Elastics are matched to your fabric colors; for jacquard or boxer waistband elastic, the logo placement and repeat interval are prepared by our design team and submitted for your approval. Alternative color and layout suggestions are also provided if needed.
- 4
Sample and Approval
Our sample department prepares sample elastics. You check fit, stretch, color and logo appearance on your own products and give your approval; any necessary fine-tuning is fully completed before moving to bulk production.
- 5
Production and Shipment
Elastics produced according to the approved samples are checked for width, color and stretch, wound and labeled on separate rolls by type, and dispatched with a shipment plan tailored to your project.
What to Keep in Mind When Choosing and Using Elastic
- Always test the elastic sewn onto your actual fabric; the band on its own can be misleading.
- For elastic that will run inside a casing, plan the casing slightly wider than the band.
- For exposed waistband applications, choose stretchable coverstitch, flatlock or zigzag stitching.
- Using ballpoint needles in elasticated areas prevents the elastic yarns from being cut.
- State on the care label that high-heat drying and chlorine bleach should be avoided.
- Store elastic rolls in a dry place away from sunlight and heat sources.
Elastic Bands: your questions answered
Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Our team is happy to help.
What types of elastic are there?
The most common elastic types in the apparel industry are braided elastic, woven elastic, knitted elastic, jacquard elastic and boxer waistband elastic. In addition, round elastic cords are used in drawstring and closure applications. Each type has a different construction; whether it narrows when stretched, its hand and its customization options determine where it is used.
Which elastic should be used for a waistband?
For waists where the elastic sits inside a casing and shape retention matters, woven elastic is a strong option. If the waistband will be exposed and brand visibility is desired, jacquard or boxer waistband elastic is preferred. For light, fine products, a soft knitted elastic may be more suitable. The final decision is made together with you based on fabric weight and product type.
How do you choose elastic width?
Width is determined by the application area, the weight of the fabric and the desired feel of the grip. Leg openings and cuffs typically use 1–2 cm, while jogger and underwear waists use the 2.5–5 cm range. Heavy fabrics call for a wider elastic, fine fabrics for a narrower one. For the best result, we recommend testing the sample on your own product.
Can a logo or brand name be added to the elastic?
Yes. With the jacquard weaving method, your brand name or logo can be woven into the structure of the elastic; this method gives a permanent look, especially on boxer and jogger waistbands. Our design team adapts your logo to the elastic width, carries out color matching and submits the sample for your approval before bulk production. Striped and patterned band options can also be developed on request.
What is the difference between rubber and elastane elastic?
These terms describe the inner component that gives the elastic its stretch. Rubber thread offers strong recovery and is a widespread, economical option. Elastane, on the other hand, provides a thinner and lighter structure and is also an alternative for users with rubber sensitivity. Which component is suitable depends on the product type and conditions of use.
How do I place a wholesale elastic order?
The process starts when you share your product type, the areas where elastic will be used, your fabric details and, if applicable, your logo file. A suitable type and width are recommended, and samples are prepared and submitted for your approval. Once approved, bulk production is scheduled. Pricing and delivery schedule are set per project based on yardage, elastic type and customization details. You can easily send your quote request through our contact channels.
Do you supply elastic to companies abroad?
Yes. Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları is a manufacturer engaged in both import and export, supplying international brands as well as domestic ones. In international projects, sample approval, color matching and logo application are carried out with the same care, and the shipment plan is created together according to the project’s needs. Technical communication is handled through digital files.
