Overview

A satin label is made by printing your logo, brand name or information text onto a glossy, soft satin tape. Its handle, which leaves a smooth, soft feel on the skin, makes it a natural choice for babywear, underwear and collections with delicate fabrics. At Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları, we plan the ground color, printing technique and edge structure of printed satin labels around your brand and submit them for your approval from our sample department in Istanbul.

  • Skin-Friendly Handle

The smooth, soft surface of satin tape offers comfortable wear at the neck and waist, where the label touches the skin; it is a noticeable advantage in products where comfort comes first.

  • Elegant Glossy Look

Satin’s natural sheen turns even the simplest logo into a stylish presentation. In womenswear, eveningwear and gift products, the label becomes a detail that raises the product’s perceived value.

  • The Flexibility of Print

Compared with weaving, printing allows more freedom with fine lettering and multi-line text. Brand name, size and short information notes can fit comfortably on a single label.

  • Ground and Ink Harmony

White, cream, black or colored satin grounds are matched with ink shades suited to your brand colors; harmony with your fabric, contrast and legibility are checked together on a sample before bulk production.

If your customer doesn’t cut the label off, your brand name lives on with the product for years and is remembered every time it is worn.

In-depth look

A Label That Combines Softness and Elegance

The foundation of a satin label is a polyester tape woven in a satin weave. In this weave type, yarns pass under one another at wide intervals, so the tape takes on a slick, smooth texture that reflects light on one face. With single-face satin, the sheen is only on the front; double-face satin offers the same softness on both sides and improves comfort, especially on labels whose reverse side touches the skin. Models whose tape edges are finished as woven edges feel softer than cut-edge ones. These details may seem small at first glance, but they determine the difference felt when the product is worn.

On satin labels, the graphic is transferred to the tape surface by printing. Thermal transfer printing is preferred especially for jobs where variable information and small-point text must come out crisp; the ink is fixed to the tape surface with heat. Screen printing, meanwhile, is a suitable method for fuller colors and bold logos. Which method to choose depends on the design’s number of colors, the scope of the order and the conditions the label will face in the wash. When preparing your logo for print, our design team also carefully assesses line weight and color contrast for legibility. With either method, rub and wash checks carried out on the sample let you verify the permanence of the print before bulk production.

A skin-friendly label is part of the trust consumers feel at their first contact with a product. Neck labels that get cut off because they scratch or chafe mean that brand information is lost along with them. A soft satin label minimizes this problem and helps the label stay on the product. This way, both the legally required information and the brand signature remain in place throughout the product’s life. Used across a wide range, from baby and children’s wear to underwear, and from pajamas to silky blouses, satin labels are prepared from Istanbul to meet your brand’s expectations, backed by our own production and our experience supplying domestic and international brands.

Applications

Where is it used?

Key applications for Satin Label.

  • Baby and Children’s Wear

On bodysuits, rompers and pajamas that touch delicate baby skin, a soft satin label stands out as a detail that comfort-focused brands take care over.

  • Underwear and Nightgowns

On products in direct contact with the skin, such as bras, briefs and nightgowns, the smooth handle of a satin label meets the expectation of all-day comfort.

  • Evening and Formal Wear

A glossy satin ground harmonizes with the shimmer of the fabric in evening gowns and formalwear; the label becomes a detail that completes the product’s elegant look.

  • Shawls and Scarves

On thin, flowing products such as shawls, scarves and neckerchiefs, a satin label shows the brand without weighing down the fabric; thanks to its light structure, it does not disturb the product’s drape.

  • Blouses and Shirts

Used as a neck label on silky blouses and shirts, a satin label creates a soft, clean interior look that matches the elegance of the fabric.

  • Home Textiles and Gifts

On pillowcases, duvet covers and gift textiles, a satin label lends the product an impression of care and quality from the moment it comes out of the packaging.

Ways to Customize Your Satin Label

The final look of a satin label is the combined result of the ground choice and the printing technique. The options below are the main choices that determine both your label’s visual character and the comfort it provides when worn, and they are assessed together on a sample.

About custom manufacturing
  1. 01

    Single- or Double-Face Satin

Single-face satin is an economical, widely used choice. Double-face satin, with a smooth surface on both sides, gives a more comfortable result on labels whose reverse side touches the skin.

  2. 02

    Thermal Transfer Printing

Heat-transferred ink prints small-point text and fine logos crisply. It is a practical method for jobs where variable information, such as size or product code, needs to change within the same design.

  3. 03

    Screen Printing

Applied through a stencil, screen printing is preferred for achieving full, vivid colors. It gives a strong look for bold logos and light-colored prints on dark grounds.

  4. 04

    Edge Structure

Satin tape with woven edges contains no cut yarns and therefore offers the softest touch. Cut-edge tape allows flexibility in different widths and is sealed using a heat method.

  5. 05

    Ground Color

White and cream grounds are classic and legible; black and colored grounds emphasize brand identity strongly. The choice is made according to your fabric color and your logo’s contrast needs.

Comparison

Satin Label or Other Options?

For products where comfort is the priority, we usually compare satin labels with woven labels and cotton tape labels. The table below briefly summarizes, in terms of general tendencies, the key differences you should consider when deciding.

Process

From request to delivery, step by step

We stay in touch with you at every stage and never move on to the next step without your approval.

  1. 1

    Defining the Application

We determine which product the label will be sewn onto, in which area, and whether it will touch the skin. This information forms the basis for choosing single- or double-face satin, edge structure and printing technique.

  2. 2

    Print Design

Your logo and text are laid out to fit the satin tape size. Ink shade is assessed for contrast with the ground color; fine lines are brought to a thickness suited to the printing method, and a digital proof is submitted for your approval.

  3. 3

    Sample Printing

Our sample department prints sample labels with the selected tape and ink. Handle, sheen, legibility and how the label sits on the fabric are checked side by side; any necessary corrections are made before bulk production.

  4. 4

    Bulk Printing and Cutting

Bulk printing on satin tape is carried out with the approved sample as the reference. Printed strips are cut to size, the required fold is applied, and print sharpness and color consistency are inspected lot by lot.

  5. 5

    Packing and Delivery

Cut labels are packed separately by model, size or color group. Shipping time is planned per project according to your collection calendar; on repeat orders, the same approved references are used to maintain continuity.

Quality and use

Usage and Care Tips for Satin Labels

  • When sewing a satin label, use a fine needle and matching thread to avoid leaving marks on the tape surface.
  • On cut-edge satin tape, do not sew too close to the edge; tension can cause the yarns to fray.
  • Do not iron the printed surface directly; if needed, turn the label over and iron at low heat.
  • On the sample, check the adhesion of thermal transfer print by rubbing it lightly with a fingernail.
  • Do not store light-colored satin labels under pressure for long periods in contact with dark fabrics.
  • For baby products, pay particular attention at the sample stage to ensuring the label corners are rounded and smooth.
Frequently asked questions

Satin Label: your questions answered

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Our team is happy to help.

What is a satin label and where is it used?

A satin label is a soft, glossy label made by printing a logo, brand name or information text onto polyester satin tape. Thanks to its skin-friendly handle, it is especially popular for baby and children’s wear, underwear, pajamas, shawls and scarves, and eveningwear and elegant womenswear collections. It can be used both as a brand label and as an information label.

Does a satin label irritate the skin?

The smooth surface of satin tape leaves a much softer feel on the skin than stiff labels. The main factors affecting comfort are edge structure and cut shape. When woven-edge tape and rounded corners are used, the feeling of friction is kept to a minimum. For sensitive products, we recommend double-face satin and make the final decision together with you on a sample.

Does the print on a satin label come off in the wash?

Print durability depends on the chosen printing method, the ink type and the product’s washing conditions. Satin labels printed with a suitable method retain their legibility for a long time when washed according to care instructions. For products that will be washed very frequently and at high temperatures, however, a woven label may be more suitable. If you share your requirements, we run a wash test on a sample and finalize the decision together.

What is the difference between thermal transfer and screen printing?

In thermal transfer printing, ink is transferred from a print ribbon to the satin surface with the help of heat; it is ideal for small-point text and variable information. In screen printing, ink is applied through a stencil directly onto the tape surface; it delivers strong results for full colors and bold logos. We determine together which is suitable based on the structure of your design and the scope of your order.

What is the difference between single-face and double-face satin?

With single-face satin, the glossy, smooth surface is only on the front, while the back has a more matte appearance. Double-face satin carries the same smooth texture on both sides. Since the side of the label that touches the skin is usually the back, double-face satin makes a noticeable difference in comfort for sensitive products such as babywear and underwear.

In which ground colors can I order satin labels?

White and cream are the most frequently chosen grounds; they offer high legibility and go well with most fabrics. Black and colored satin grounds are used in collections that want to highlight the brand’s color identity. We recommend ground and ink combinations according to your brand color card and submit the contrast and legibility for your approval on a sample.

How does the satin label ordering process work?

The process begins when you share your logo, preferred ground color and the product the label will be used on. Our design team prepares the print proof, and our sample department prints sample labels. After sample approval, bulk printing, cutting and packing are carried out. Order quantity and delivery plan are set together with you according to the scope of the project. Throughout the process, our design team supports you directly with any questions.
