Overview

A care label is a small but indispensable component that tells consumers your product’s fiber composition and how it should be cared for, and it carries the legally required information. At Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları, we arrange care symbols according to the ISO 3758 system, lay out the fiber content in one or several languages, and manufacture care labels tailored to your brand. When accurate information, legible printing and soft material come together, the label protects both the consumer and the brand.

  • Standard Care Symbols

Washing, bleaching, drying, ironing and professional cleaning symbols are placed in the order and format defined in ISO 3758; even consumers who do not speak the language can read the care information from the symbols easily and correctly.

  • Multilingual Layout

For exporting brands, the fiber composition and warning texts are prepared in more than one language. Depending on the length of the text, the label length or number of pages is increased so that every language stays legible.

  • Regulation-Conscious Content

Fiber names and percentages are written in the format required by the Turkish labeling regulation, which is aligned with EU Regulation 1007/2011; our team reviews the text with you line by line before placing it on the label.

  • Soft Material Options

On most products, it is unavoidable that labels sewn into the side seam or waistband will touch the skin. On request, we carefully balance comfort and print durability for your product with satin, taffeta or cotton tape options.

A correctly written care label extends your product’s life and reduces the risk of returns right from the labeling stage.

In-depth look

A Big Responsibility on a Small Label

Care symbols are a common language recognized worldwide. The ISO 3758 standard and the GINETEX approach, which manages the rights to these symbols and has spread the system widely, are built on five basic symbols: the washtub, the bleaching triangle, the drying square, the iron and the professional cleaning circle. The number in the washtub indicates the maximum temperature, the dots in the iron and tumble drying symbols indicate the heat level, the bars underneath indicate how gentle the process should be, and a cross means the process must not be carried out. The correct set of symbols is determined by evaluating the product’s fabric, dyes and trims together. We place the symbols in the order set out in the standard and make sure they read clearly even at small sizes.

Fiber composition labeling, on the other hand, is not a choice but an obligation. The labeling regulation in force in Turkey, aligned with EU Regulation 1007/2011, requires fiber names to be written using standard names, by weight percentage and in descending order. For products with different parts, such as lining or filling, the content of each part is stated separately; products containing non-textile parts of animal origin require an additional statement. The accuracy of this information is the responsibility of the brand placing the product on the market. We fit the composition you provide into the format required by the regulation, check spelling and ordering errors with you before printing, and use the approved text consistently across all variations.

For companies that export or manufacture for international brands, the care label must meet the language expectations of the target market. Because care symbols are language-independent, they are shared, while the fiber composition and warning texts are translated into the language of each market. As the number of languages grows, the label can be lengthened or folded in the middle to create a multi-page booklet. Your brand logo, product code, size and production information can also be added to the same label. Drawing on our experience supplying domestic and international brands, we suggest solutions that make it easier for you to work with a single multilingual care label instead of holding separate stock for each market.

Applications

Where is it used?

Key applications for Care Label.

  • Ready-to-Wear Collections

On every ready-to-wear product, from T-shirts to suits, a care label placed in the side seam presents the fiber composition and care symbols to the consumer at first glance.

  • Export Orders

On products shipped to Europe and other markets, multilingual care labels meet the language expectations of each country on a single label, reducing logistics and stock complexity.

  • Multi-Component Products

On lined coats, padded vests or products combining several fabrics, the fiber content of each part is stated on separate lines, providing complete and clear information.

  • Baby and Children’s Products

Labels with a soft base are preferred for babywear that touches sensitive skin; the care information directly helps parents wash the product correctly.

  • Home Textiles

On large items such as duvet covers, towels, curtains and blankets, the care label helps the product keep its shape through the right choice of temperature and drying method.

  • Accessories and Bags

On hats, scarves, gloves and fabric bags, small care labels reliably carry the mandatory content information in a spot that is not visible from the outside, without spoiling the product’s design.

Made for your brand

Tailor Your Care Label to Your Brand

Every care label carries the same legal core, but its material, format and information layout vary from brand to brand. The options below ensure that your care label fully meets both regulatory expectations and your brand standards at the same time.

About custom manufacturing
  1. 01

    Single-Language Care Label

For brands selling only in the domestic market, a simple layout consisting of the fiber composition in Turkish and the care symbols is sufficient. Thanks to its compact size, it fits easily into narrow seam areas.

  2. 02

    Multilingual Care Label

The fiber composition and warning texts are listed in the languages of your target markets. Depending on the number of languages, the label is lengthened or switched to a multi-page booklet format so that all texts can be set in a legible font size.

  3. 03

    Material Selection

Satin tape stands out for its softness in underwear and baby products, taffeta for its durability in outerwear, and cotton tape in natural collections. The choice is made based on print permanence and skin contact.

  4. 04

    Single- and Double-Sided Printing

When the amount of information increases, both sides of the label can be used. Placing the brand and care symbols on the front and the fiber composition and multilingual texts on the back creates an orderly reading flow.

  5. 05

    Brand and Product Information

Your logo, product code, size, season or production batch information can be added to the care label. This information helps identify the product quickly and easily in after-sales returns, complaints and tracking processes.

Process

From request to delivery, step by step

We stay in touch with you at every stage and never move on to the next step without your approval.

  1. 1

    Gathering Information

You share your product’s fiber composition, its parts, care conditions and the markets where it will be sold. This data determines from the outset the number of languages, format and size of the care label and the mandatory statements it must contain.

  2. 2

    Text and Symbol Layout

Fiber names are written using standard names in descending order of percentage, and care symbols are arranged in the ISO 3758 order. The resulting layout is submitted for your approval as a digital proof for spelling and translation checks.

  3. 3

    Sample and Legibility

Our sample department prints a sample care label on the selected material. The legibility of the smallest font size, symbol clarity and page order after folding are checked; mass printing does not begin without approval.

  4. 4

    Mass Printing and Cutting

Mass printing is carried out based on the approved proof. If there are differences in model, size or composition, each variation is coded separately, and after cutting and folding, batches are inspected for text accuracy.

  5. 5

    Sorting and Delivery

Care labels are sorted and packed by product code and size, and marked to prevent mix-ups on the sewing line. The delivery plan is set specifically for the project according to your domestic or international shipping needs.

Quality and use

Checklist for an Accurate Care Label

  • Determine the care symbols based on the conditions that the most delicate component of the product can withstand.
  • Before printing, confirm that the fiber percentages add up to one hundred percent and are listed in descending order.
  • Do not forget to state the content of different parts, such as lining and filling, on separate lines.
  • Clarify the language expectations of every country where the product will be sold before ordering, and complete the text list.
  • Place the care label in a seam that consumers can find easily and that is subject to little friction.
  • For orders with variations, prevent mix-ups by matching care label codes separately for each model and size.
Frequently asked questions

Care Label: your questions answered

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Our team is happy to help.

What information should a care label include?

At its core, it includes the product’s fiber composition and care symbols. The fiber composition is written using standard fiber names in descending order of weight percentage; for products with different parts, each part is stated separately. The care symbols provide washing, bleaching, drying, ironing and professional cleaning information. In addition, the brand name, product code, size and warning texts can be added on request.

What are ISO 3758 and GINETEX?

ISO 3758 is the international standard that defines the format, meaning and order of the symbols used in care labeling for textile products. GINETEX is the international organization that manages the rights to these care symbols and supports consistent use of the system in many countries, particularly in Europe. The symbols on our care labels are arranged according to this system, so consumers can understand the care information even if they do not speak the language.

Is fiber content labeling mandatory in Turkey?

Yes. For textile products placed on the market in Turkey, the labeling regulation prepared in alignment with EU Regulation 1007/2011 requires the fiber composition to be declared by means of a label or marking. The information is expected to be presented in Turkish, legibly and durably. The company placing the product on the market is responsible for the accuracy of the composition; we transfer the information you provide to the label in line with the format set out in the regulation.

How is a multilingual care label prepared?

First, the markets where the product will be sold and the language expectations of those markets are determined. Because care symbols are shared across all languages, they are not repeated; the fiber composition and warning texts, however, are written on a separate line for each language. As the number of languages increases, the label is lengthened or folded in the middle to create a multi-page booklet. We check the translations with you before sending them to print.

What material should a care label be made of?

The material is chosen according to the type of product and whether the label will be in contact with the skin. Soft satin tape can be used for underwear and baby products, taffeta with high print clarity for outerwear and frequently washed workwear, and cotton tape for natural-look collections. We recommend comparing the print durability and hand feel of each material on a sample.

Does the print on a care label wash off?

Print permanence depends on the material, the printing method and the ink used. Care labels are usually printed using the thermal transfer method, and when the right material and ink are paired, they remain legible for a long time through washes that follow the care instructions. For products that will be exposed to heavy washing conditions, we determine the right combination together by running a wash trial on a sample.

Do different sizes and models need separate care labels?

If the fiber composition and care conditions are the same, a single care label can be used across several models or sizes. If the size, product code or composition differs, a separate care label is prepared for each variation. In that case, we code the labels and pack them separately to prevent mix-ups on the sewing line. Sharing your list of variations makes planning easier.
