A woven label is a lasting signature in which your logo and brand name are created not by printing but by yarns interlacing on the loom. At Elif Tekstil Aksesuarları, we manufacture custom woven labels for your brand in damask, taffeta and satin weaves. Because the lettering and pattern are part of the label’s structure, they do not wash off with repeated laundering; the longer your garment lives, the longer your label lives with it. In our sample department in Bağcılar, Istanbul, we adapt your logo for weaving.
Request a quoteA Logo Woven in Yarn
Your logo is not printed on the surface but worked into the label’s weave with weft and warp yarns. Thanks to this structure, the lettering does not disappear with wear and abrasion, and the label largely keeps its day-one definition throughout the product’s life.
Three Weave Options
Together with our team, you choose between highly detailed damask, economical and full-bodied taffeta or glossy satin weave, whichever best suits your product’s character, end use and budget.
Wash Resistance
Usually woven with polyester yarn, these labels keep their shape and color through everyday care such as frequent washing, tumble drying and ironing, making them a reliable choice, especially for sportswear and workwear.
Precision in Fine Detail
The fine yarns used in damask weaving make it possible to render small type, thin-line logos and complex emblems legibly; in premium collections, it is this detail that makes the difference.
Print stays on the surface, while weaving becomes the label itself; your logo lives on in every yarn of the label.
A Signature Written in Yarn That Never Washes Off
The first decision that determines the quality of a woven label is which weave to choose. Damask weave is produced with fine-denier polyester yarns at a high pick density, giving a smooth surface and sharp details where even small letters remain legible. Taffeta weave uses thicker yarn and a looser structure; its texture is pronounced, its handle slightly stiff and its cost more favorable. Satin weave, meanwhile, creates a shiny, slick ground through long yarn floats on the surface and is the choice for collections seeking an elegant look. Our team assesses these three options according to the level of detail in your logo and your product’s positioning.
A woven label’s resistance to washing comes directly from its structure. While ink on a printed surface can wear away over time, on a woven label the logo is made of the yarns themselves, so there is no issue of lettering rubbing off. With the right yarn selection and a suitable edge finish, the label holds its shape against friction in the washing machine, detergent and heat. On frequently washed products in particular, this difference quickly becomes visible. That is why it makes sense to view woven labels as an investment for brands that expect their products to be used for years. We do not leave durability in theory alone; we recommend that you observe how the label behaves together with your fabric at the sample stage and base your decision on a tangible example.
In custom woven label production, translating the design into the language of weaving is a critical step. Since each color on the loom is created by a separate weft yarn, the number of colors, line thickness and letter size must be planned within technical limits. Our design team adapts your logo to these limits and, where necessary, suggests color simplification or sizing to achieve the best result while preserving your brand’s character. The approved pattern file is archived so the same result can be reliably achieved on repeat orders. With our own production and experience supplying domestic and international brands, we meet your various woven label needs, from neck labels to inner pocket labels, through a single point of contact in Istanbul.

Where is it used?
Key applications for Woven Label.
Neck Brand Label
At the neck of shirts, T-shirts and sweatshirts, where a brand is seen first, center-fold woven labels leave a clean, lasting signature.
Coat and Jacket Linings
On heavy outerwear, damask labels sewn into the lining or inner pocket provide a detailed, prestigious brand presentation that matches the quality of the fabric.
Sports and Outdoor Apparel
In sportswear that faces sweat, frequent washing and intense movement, woven labels stay legible and neat season after season thanks to their structural durability.
Workwear and School Uniforms
On workwear and school uniforms that are frequently exposed to heavy washing, weaving the logo in yarn helps the label share the same lifespan as the product.
Bags and Caps
In tight spaces such as bag linings, cap back straps or wallet inner pockets, small woven labels display the brand elegantly and unobtrusively.
Denim and Trousers
Sewn inside the waistband or beside the back pocket of jeans and trousers, woven labels add character to the collection with a full-bodied structure that complements heavy fabric.
Options That Shape Your Woven Label
The same logo can take on an entirely different label character with different weave and finishing choices. The options below are the core decisions that determine your woven label’s look, handle and performance where it is sewn, and each one is tested on a sample.
About custom manufacturing- 01
Damask Weave
Woven with fine yarn at high density, damask is the option that renders small lettering and detailed logos most crisply. With its smooth surface and soft handle, it stands out for premium neck labels.
- 02
Taffeta Weave
Woven with thicker yarn at a lower density, taffeta suits simple logos with its pronounced texture and favorable cost. It offers a practical solution for high-volume core product lines.
- 03
Satin Weave
Its glossy, slick surface gives the label a lustrous look. In nightwear, eveningwear and elegant womenswear collections, it lets the logo stand out gracefully while retaining the durability of a woven label.
- 04
Edge Finish
Heat cutting is an economical, fast solution; ultrasonic cutting creates a softer edge. A woven edge leaves no cut yarns along the sides, making it the most comfortable option in areas that touch the skin.
- 05
Fold and Backing
Center, end or miter folds determine how the label is sewn on. For applications where sewing is not wanted, an iron-on backing can be added on request so the label can be heat-bonded to the fabric.
Woven Labels vs. Other Label Types
When choosing a brand label, we most often compare woven labels with printed satin labels and rubber labels. The table below summarizes general tendencies across key criteria such as wash resistance and appearance.
| Criterion | Woven Label | Printed Satin Label | Rubber Label |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logo formation | Woven with yarn | Printed on ground | Molded in relief |
| Wash resistance | Very high | Depends on print | High |
| Detail precision | High with damask | High | Depends on mold |
| Handle | Slightly stiff to soft | Very soft | Flexible, thick |
| Appearance | Textured, classic | Glossy, elegant | Raised, sporty |
| Typical use | Neck, lining, pocket | Underwear, babywear | Outerwear, bags |
From request to delivery, step by step
We stay in touch with you at every stage and never move on to the next step without your approval.
- 1
Logo and Size Analysis
By reviewing your logo and the area where the label will be sewn, we determine the weave type, size and number of colors. A recommendation of damask for finely detailed designs or taffeta for simple logos is finalized at this stage.
- 2
Weave Pattern Preparation
Your design is converted into a technical pattern file that the loom can read. A weft yarn is assigned to each color, and line thicknesses and letter spacing are optimized within the limits of weaving.
- 3
Sample Weaving
Our sample department weaves a sample label in the selected yarn colors. Color match, lettering definition, edge quality and fold style are assessed side by side with your fabric; nothing moves into bulk without your approval.
- 4
Bulk Weaving and Finishing
Bulk weaving is carried out using the approved sample as the reference. The woven strips are cut by heat or ultrasonic methods, the required fold is applied and each lot is checked for color and size.
- 5
Packing and Shipping
Labels are packed by size, model or color and marked for easy distribution on your garment line. The delivery plan is set together with you specifically for each project, according to your collection calendar.
Quality Control Tips for Woven Labels
- On the sample, always check the legibility of small letters by looking at the label from arm’s length.
- On neck labels that touch the skin, run your finger along the cut edge to check that it does not scratch.
- On dark-ground labels, assess how well the yarn color harmonizes with the fabric tone in daylight.
- When sewing a woven label, pass the needle through the blank margin at the edge, not through the logo.
- On iron-on models, do not exceed the recommended heat and time; excessive heat can make the surface shiny.
- In bulk production, take a sample from each lot and compare color and size with the approved sample.
Woven Label: your questions answered
Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Our team is happy to help.
What is a woven label and how does it differ from a printed label?
On a woven label, the logo and lettering are created by yarns interlacing on the loom; in other words, the graphic is part of the label’s structure. On a printed label, the graphic is transferred with ink onto the surface of satin or a similar ground. This difference makes woven labels more resistant to washing and abrasion. Printed labels, on the other hand, offer a softer handle and flexibility with color gradients.
What is the difference between damask, taffeta and satin weave?
Damask is woven with fine yarn at high density; it is the type that renders detail most crisply and gives the smoothest surface. Taffeta is woven with thicker yarn; its texture is pronounced and its cost more favorable. Satin weave offers a glossy, slick surface that gives the label an elegant look. The choice is made together with you based on your logo’s detail, your product’s positioning and your budget.
Do woven labels fade or wash off?
Because the logo is woven in yarn, the rubbing off seen on printed labels does not happen with woven labels. Colorfastness, however, depends on the quality of the yarn used and the care conditions. Woven labels produced with the right yarn selection retain their color and definition for a long time, as long as the product is washed according to its care instructions. If special conditions of use apply, we recommend a preliminary test on a sample.
How many colors can I use on a woven label?
In weaving, each color is created by a separate weft yarn, so the number of colors is limited by the loom’s technical capacity and the structure of the design. Rather than giving a fixed number, we review your logo and propose a workable color layout. In multicolor designs, some shades can be merged to simplify; in that case, a solution that preserves your brand identity is submitted for your approval on a sample.
What size woven label should I order?
Size is determined by the area where the label will be sewn and the legibility of your logo. Horizontal, narrow and long formats are commonly used for neck labels, while more compact sizes are preferred for inner pocket, lining or bag applications. On folded labels, the fold allowance must also be taken into account. Our design team recommends the right size for your product with a technical drawing and lets you verify it on a sample.
Are iron-on woven labels possible?
Yes, on request a heat-activated adhesive layer can be applied to the back of the woven label. This option offers convenience for products where sewing is not wanted or temporary fixing is needed. However, for products that are washed frequently and expected to last, stitching around the edges after bonding gives a more secure result. Suitability for your fabric is tested on a sample.
What should I send for a woven label order?
A vector file of your logo, your preferred color codes, information on the product and area where the label will be sewn, and your approximate quantity expectation are enough to get started. If you have a sample label you like, sharing it speeds up the choice of weave type. Our team then prepares the technical drawing and, with sample approval, finalizes the production plan with you per project; you work with a single point of contact throughout the process.
